CARSON CRANE COMMITS TO CUBS
The Greater Sudbury Cubs Jr. A Hockey Club are pleased to announce the commitment of 5’10”, 175 lb defenceman CARSON CRANE to his local team for the 2022-23 NOJHL season.
Crane, 17, played for the Sudbury Nickel Capitals U18 team last season and recorded 8 goals and added 10 assists for 18 points in 24 games from his blueline position. Carson also played five games in the NOJHL last season as an affiliate call-up to the Jr. A Cubs where the youngster recorded two assists. Carson was also called-up to the Cubs in the play-offs and played in two games.
“Carson is a very skilled puck-moving defenceman who can quarterback a powerplay” notes Cubs Head Coach Darryl Moxam. “Carson is a competitor and it is great to add another local player to our roster and we have made the commitment to work with him on his development as a player for the next level of hockey.”
The Azilda resident was equally as pleased to be joining his hometown team on a full-time basis: “Receiving the call from Coach Moxam was very exciting” notes Crane. “I’m very happy to be playing for my hometown team and I look forward to contributing to the team’s intensity and success this upcoming season. Both my dad and uncle played junior hockey here in Sudbury so having the opportunity to do the same is really cool.”
Carson Crane and the new-look Sudbury Cubs will commence their NOJHL season with a back to-back HOME double-header games on Thursday, September 8th vs Powassan Voodoos and on Friday, September 9th vs Hearst Lumberjacks. Cubs home games will have a 7:05 pm start time at the Gerry McCrory Countryside Sports Complex this season.
