CUBS ADD 19-YEAR-OLD FORWARD TO LINE-UP

The Sudbury Cubs are pleased to announce the acquisition of Elliot Lake Red Wings team captain Kaden Laverdiere.   The big 6’1, 200 lb centreman was tied for second-place in team scoring with 8 goals and 12 assists for 20 points in 30 games with the Wings.  Laverdiere, 19, brings a physical game as evidenced by his  45 penalty minutes recorded this season.  Last season, Laverdiere scored 13 goals and added    9 helpers for 22 points in 43 games in Elliot Lake and Blind River.  Laverdiere is from the Barrie area and joins his former Red Wings teammate Devin Shoreman, who made his debut for the Cubs last week.  Shoreman,19, was acquired from the Red Wings on January 5th.

“We are very pleased to add a forward with Kaden’s size and strength to our line-up” notes Cubs GM Dave Clancy.  “We were hoping to add a good face-off man that is hard on pucks and plays a physical brand of hockey.  We were also looking to add some veteran leadership to support our younger line-up and Kaden checks all of the boxes for us.  We are thrilled to add Kaden’s leadership to our line-up after he was named as their team captain this season.  Kaden is only 19 years of age and looks forward to contributing to our run at a championship season.  We are very happy with adding the veteran experience and leadership that Kaden and Devin both add to our line-up.”

The Cubs finalized their roster by trading 20-year-old defenceman Carter Geoffroy to the St. Catherines Falcons of the GOJHL JR. B league in return for a development fee.  Geoffroy recorded 8 points in 30 games this season.  The Sudbury Cubs would like to express their sincere appreciation to Carter for his personal contribution to the Sudbury Cubs organization over the past two seasons.
