CUBS CLINCH PLAY-OFF BERTH

The Greater Sudbury Cubs clinched a play-off spot in the West Division as a result of their 9-1 victory over French River Rapids on the weekend.   The Cubs maintained their 10-point lead over second-place Blind River in the West Division and now have a one point lead over the Timmins Rock for first place overall in the NOJHL. With a loss to Espanola last week, the Cubs slid two spots down to 8th place in the country’s national rankings.

The Cubs were led in scoring last week by 18-year-old star forward SAM ASSINEWAI who recorded 3 goals and 2 assists for 5 points. Veteran defenceman NICK TOFFOLI had a stellar week with 2 goals and 2 assists for 4 points.  PIERSON SOBUSH recorded a hattrick in the Cubs 9-1 win over French River. The local star forward now leads the league once again in most goals scored with 34 markers.
