The Cubs will be looking to increase their 3 point lead over the Blind River Beavers in the very-tight West Division standings this Thursday night when they host the Cochrane Crunch.   The game will feature A & W TEEN BURGER NIGHT with every Cubs fan receive a great-tasting A & W teen burger courtesy of the good people at A & W.   The Cubs would like to extend a special welcome to the Silverstick teams attending the Cubs’ game Thursday night.   Game time is 7:05 at the Gerry McCrory Countryside Sports Complex.  The Cubs will close-out the week with an important road trip to Blind River on Saturday to face their division rival.

SOBUSH NAMED EASTLINK STAR OF THE WEEK

Cubs star forward and local player Pierson Sobush has been named one of the EASTLINK 3-STARS OF THE WEEK!  The 18-year-old sophomore recorded five points in two games last week to lead the Cubs offensively.  One of Pierson’s goals  was a short-handed marker which tied the game against Elliot Lake and sent the game into overtime.  The Cubs pulled-out the win in a shoot-out thanks to Cubs goaltender Noah Beaulne who stopped all three shots that he faced and Cubs forward Oliver Smith, who scored the only goal in the shoot-out.

Sobush followed-up his clutch performance on Thursday night by scoring the game winning goal in the Sault on Saturday night with a deft deflection that caught the top corner of the net. Sobush also added the opening goal of the game and was named the game’s first star. Sobush has recorded 29 points in 25 games as the local OHL & NCAA free agent prospect continues to lead the Cubs both on and off the ice.
