CUBS HOST FRENCH RIVER THURSDAY NIGHT!

The Cubs will be looking to extend their two-game winning streak this Thursday night when they host the FRENCH RIVER RAPIDS.  Game time is 7:05 at the Countryside Sports Complex.   This will be the final home game of the regular season to be played at the Countryside Sports Complex.  The Cubs are looking forward to the return of veteran forwards COLE CROWDER and BILLY BIEDERMANN to their line-up as well!

BACK 2 HEALTH REHABILITATION CENTRE on Bancroft drive will be sponsoring Thursday’s game as the Cubs will pay tribute to their graduating class at the start of the game including 20 year old: COLE CROWDER, NICK TOFFOLI and GRAEME SIREN.   All three players are completing their junior hockey careers with the Sudbury Cubs this season.

SOBUSH SCORES FOUR MORE!

Cubs leading goal scorer PIERSON SOBUSH continues to hold the hot-hand for the Cubs as the 18-year-old youngster scored both goals in a 2-1 victory over Blind River on Thursday, and then proceeded to score two more goals and add an assist in the Cubs 4-0 win in Kirkland Lake on Friday.   Sobush now has 41 goals and 21 assists for 62 points in just 53 games played.  Sobush sits in second place in most goals scored in the NOJHL.  Sobush now leads the Cubs in scoring and holds down 7th place in overall scoring in the NOJHL.  Sobush, along with forwards Billy Biedermann & Oliver Smith are among the top 11 scorers in the NOJHL.

Cubs’ goaltender NOAH METIVIER had an outstanding week allowing just one goal in two games played last week.   METIVIER, 19, recorded a 19-save shut-out in a 4-0 win in Kirkland Lake and stopped 32 of 33 shots fired his way against Blind River.   Metivier now owns the best save percentage in the NOJHL at .930 and sits in fourth place in goals against average with 2.04.   Metivier was named as an EASTLINK COMMUNITY TV STAR OF THE WEEK!

 CUBS RANKED 13TH BEST TEAM IN THE COUNTRY!

With the two wins last week the Cubs moved-up two spots to finish 13th in the country in CJHL national rankings.
