CUBS REMAIN 7TH IN THE NATION!
The Greater Sudbury Cubs extended their winning streak to 7 games with two victories last week and outscored their opponents 9-1 in the process. Despite the success, the Cubs find themselves in a log-jam amongst CJHL National rankings as the top teams continue to win games as well. The Cubs have officially completed the first-half of the regular season after recording 48 pointsin 29 league games. The Cubs have 29 games remaining in the regular season.
CUBS HOST THE FRENCH RIVER RAPIDS THURSDAY NIGHT
The first-place Cubs will be looking to be the first NOJHL team to hit the 50-point mark on the season when they host the French River Rapids on Thursday night at 7:05 pm at the Gerry McCrory Countryside Arena. RBC will be sponsoring the game and collecting food donations as Cubs fans are asked to bring a non perishable food item to the game. All donations will be delivered to the Elgin Street Mission. All fans making a food donation will be eligible to win a Gift Card courtesy of RBC and a Cubs official team hoodie! The Cubs will travel to Powassan on Friday to close-out the week of hockey action!

Cubs’ goaltender Noah Metivier continues to impress in goal for the Cubs as the 18-year-old star goaltender recorded his second shut-out in three starts since joining the Cubs. Metivier’s goals against record is a sparking 0.33. Joining Noah on the “impressive” list is Aiden Landers. The 18-year-old forward from Everett, Ontario has now recorded 4 points, including 3 goals, in his last five games.

The Cubs lead the league in a number of categories but most impressive is the Cubs home record of 12-1-2. The .867 winning percentage on home ice leads the league. The Cubs are also owners of the best power play in the West Division at 23.8%. First year defenceman Matthew Mazzotta scored the game winner in Sunday’s 2-0 victory over the Paper Kings while Cole Crowder had the game winner in Thursday’s 7-1 victory over the Gold Miners. Marshall McCharles and Sam Assinewai led the Cubs in scoring last week with one goal and two assists each while defenceman Kyloe Ellis recorded 3 assists in the two victories and continues to lead all NOJHL rookies in league scoring with 29 points in 29 games.
