CUBS REMAIN IN TOP 10 TEAMS IN THE COUNTRY
The Greater Sudbury Cubs remain as the top team in the NOJHL and a TOP 10 TEAM in the Country by virtue of their one-win, one-loss performance last week. The Cubs had their 9-game winning streak snapped on Thursday when they dropped a 4-1 decision to the Espanola Paper Kings. The Cubs rebounded on Friday night with a 4-1 victory over the improving French River Rapids.
Pierson Sobush, Cole Crowder, Cameron Walker and Nick Toffoli all recorded one goal and one assist in last week’s NOJHL league action.
CUBS HOST POWASSAN THURSDAY NIGHT
The Cubs will close-out the 2022 schedule with a home-and-home series against the Powassan Voodoos this week. The Cubs will travel to Powassan on Wednesday and will return home on Thursday night to host the Voodoos at the Gerry McCrory Countryside Sports Complex. Game time is 7:05. SmartCell Communications, authorized dealer of Telus, will sponsor the game with free GOOGLE NEST HUBS for Cubs Fans of the Period. CUBS WELCOME HOME SAM ASSINEWAI FROM WORLD JR. A HOCKEY CHALLENGE EVENT
The Sudbury Cubs have been without one of their star 
forwards for the past two weeks in Sam Assinewai. Sam, 18, was playing for HOCKEY CANADA EAST in the World Jr. ‘A’ Challenge Cup and won a silver medal after dropping a 5-2 decision to TEAM USA. Sam will be recognized at the start of Thursday’s game for being the NOJHL’s sole representative at the international event in Cornwall.
