CUBS REMAIN RANKED #7 IN THE COUNTRY AFTER WINNING 2 OF 3 GAMES LAST WEEK

The Sudbury Cubs recorded two more victories last week and suffered one defeat as they outshot their opposition 126-74 in three games played including 35-35 in Powassan on Friday night.  The Cubs were led in scoring by Billy Biedermann with 2 goals and 3 assists for 5 points while Cole Crowder recorded 3 goals and 1 assist for 4 points in three games played last week. The Cubs defeated French River 4-1 and 6-0 in a home and away series that sandwiched a 8-1 loss to the Voodoos in Powassan.  Friday’s loss to Powassan snapped the Cubs 7-game winning streak!

The Cubs record now stands at 33-6-2 for 68 points that gives the Cubs a 5-point lead over the Timmins Rock for first place overall in the NOJHL.  The Cubs maintained their 11-point lead over the Soo TBirds for first place in the Western Conference. Pierson Sobush continues to lead the NOJHL in goals scored with 31 while Noah Metivier recorded his third shut-out of the season on Sunday and now sports a sparking 1.62 goals against average and .942 save percentage with a win-loss record of 9-2. Noah Beaulne recorded his 16th win of the season on Thursday as the local rookie goaltender continues to shine with a .920 save percentage and a 2.13 goals against average.

CUBS HOST SOO EAGLES ON THURSDAY NIGHT

The Cubs will be looking for a big win this Thursday night when they host the USA-based SOO EAGLES for the second time this season at 7:05 at the Countryside Sports Complex.   Thursday’s game will feature the big draw for the SAMSUNG SOUNDTOWER speaker valued at $699 from BIANCO’S SUPERCENTRE on the Kingsway.   Cubs fans will receive a FREE CUBS pen to fill-out their lucky ballot and the Cubs Fan of the Game will win a CUBS HOCKEY team hoodie!  The Cubs will also be inviting newly immigrated families from UKRAINE to Thursday’s game to enjoy their first-ever Junior hockey game in Greater Sudbury!
