CUBS & SUDBURY PLAYGROUND HOCKEY LEAGUE FORM NEW COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP

The Greater Sudbury Cubs Jr. A Hockey Club is pleased to announce a new hockey partnership with the Sudbury Playground Hockey League. The Sudbury Playground Hockey League is comprised of 600 youngsters aged 6-to-16 years and is organized by volunteer coaches, managers and board members. The SPHL has served the hockey-playing youth of the Sudbury community for over 70 years!“The idea of forming a new community partnership with the SPHL was initiated back in February when we launched the Roy Muncaster Bursary Fund” notes Cubs Managing Director Blaine Smith. “We have added a number of new components to our new partnership that will assist the SPHL in many ways including: Free Cubs tickets for youngsters, Tyke mini-game experiences during intermissions, Family Day SPHL Celebration Game, 50-50 fundraising and Cubs players attending SPHL team practices to assist with on-ice instruction.”

SPHL President Ernie Boeswald was equally pleased to confirm the new partnership with the Cubs organization: “The Cubs initiated the Roy Muncaster SPHL Bursary Fund this year and we are very pleased with their level of support for recreational hockey. Our players and their families sincerely look forward to attending Cubs games at the Countryside Sports Complex this season and cheering-on the Cubs to victory. We cannot thank the Cubs organization enough for their dedication in serving the hockey playing youth of our community at the recreational level.”

The SPHL will begin conducting 50-50 draws at Cubs games and awarding a cash prize to one lucky Cubs fan during every Cubs home game this season. The Cubs play home games every Thursday night at Countryside Sports Complex with game time beginning at 7:05 pm. The Cubs encourage local families, students, adults and seniors to come-out and cheer-on the Cubs and support their Junior hockey team and recreational hockey this season!
