CUBS WIN 10th CONSECUTIVE GAME

The Darryl Moxam coached GREATER SUDBURY CUBS, recently ranked #7 in the Nation, have now won 10 consecutive games and lead the NOJHL standings with a record of 11 wins, 1 loss, 1 OT loss and 1 tie for 24 points in the first 14 games of the new season. The Cubs dominated the 12th ranked TIMMINS ROCK last night in the friendly confines of the Gerry McCrory Countryside Arena Complex by a convincing score of 5-1. The Cubs outshot the Rock 22-7 in the second period of last night’s game and 36-23 overall.

Leading the way for the Cubs was 20-year-old veteran SAM ASSINEWAI who continues to be on fire of late and has moved-up into second place in league scoring with 19 points. LUCAS SIGNORETTI added a goal and an assist in the win and now leads the league in scoring with 22 points in 14 games. Cub’s goaltender NOAH BEAULNE was outstanding last night as he back-stopped the Cubs to the convincing win over the Rock by stopping 22 of 23 shots that the Hanmer native faced.

For Coach Moxam, the win represents his 100thregular season victory as the local Walden native now sports a winning percentage of .796 since making his debut as the Head Coach of the Greater Sudbury Cubs prior to the start of the 2022-23 season. Moxam led the Sudbury Cubs to the City’s first junior hockey league championship last season since 2008.
