CUBS HOST SOO THUNDERBIRDS IN GAMES #1 & #2 IN WEST SEMI-FINALS

The GREATER SUDBURY CUBS will enjoy home-ice-advantage when they host the third-place SOO THUNDERBIRDS in games #1 and games #2 of the best-of-seven semi-final series in the West Division of the NOJHL. Game #1 goes this THURSDAY at 7:05 pm and Game #2 will be played on FRIDAY at 7:05 pm. Both games will be played at the Gerry McCrory Countryside Sports Complex.

Thursday’s game will be sponsored by RBC and the first 250 fans attending each home play-off game this week will receive a GROWL TOWEL. Thursday’s game will also feature students from MARYMOUNT ACADEMY who will welcome fans to the game and provide some great prizes including a FREE HOODIE and RBC STANLEY CUPS to lucky Cubs fans.

On Friday night, in addition to providing another 250 FREE GROWL TOWELS, RBC will welcome volunteers from the NOFCC to collect donations for Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer. RBC will also be providing noise-makers and candy for youngsters attending Friday’s game! There’s nothing quite like PLAY-OFF HOCKEY!

CUBS AND T-BIRDS STATS

The Cubs and T-Birds have played some close games this season including the last two times these two arch-rivals met on January 18th and 19th in a home-and-home series. The Cubs won 4-3 on home ice before dropping a close 3-2 decision the next day in the Soo. Cubs forward Sam Assinewai was named a game star in both January games.

Cubs forwards Nolan Newton and Hudson Chitaroni led the Cubs in scoring against the Soo with two goals and two assists each. Cubs players scoring goals in the four-game regular season series with the Soo include: Ben Lacroix and Sam Assinewai with two goals each while Ben Harris, Nohan Kohan and Brock Houser had singles.

Tickets are available at the door for Thursday and Friday night’s home game versus the SOO THUNDERBIRDS. Tickets are $17 for Adults, $12 for Juniors/Seniors and $7 for Children (12 & under).
